Bistro Lounge « GARÇONS! » – Ste. Adele (Reviewed October 2012)

The restaurant is called “Garçons” because of its two chefs, who pride themselves on creating a rich, tasty cuisine.  They are Jean-Marc Jorand, and Jean-François Daigneault who are proud to welcome you to their Bistro-Lounge.  Their menu is inspired by their grandmothers and mothers since they believe that the older pots create the best plates, yet they are adapting the dishes to our times.  It is also a Lounge where you can come and relax with friends, or on your own, with a drink and little finger foods.  The décor, and table settings, is warm and comfortable.  It may also interest you to know that you can attend a workshop about matching wines to meals with the sommelier Jean Beaudin at the rear meeting room, which is also available for private meetings and parties.  The whole place is decorated with large collage paintings created by artist Lucie Lacroix who also serves your dinner with a smile.

The restaurant is open 5 pm daily.  They do have a daily Table d’hôte including salad or soup, main dish and a desert.  I sat outside in their terrace encircling the building and chose the Thursday special, which included a salad of tomatoes and bocancini cheese, main dish of tender lamb-shank with herbed potatoes with ham bits, and green beans.  The desert was a yogurt with blueberries served in a tiny mason jar.  With a coffee the bill was $29.84.  Their desert list also includes a tiramisu with cream and whisky, specialty coffees, and crêpes.  This bistro is a lovely choice for a meal prior to the cinema, which is just around the corner of the building.  Restaurant opens 7 days a week at 5 pm.   Bistro Lounge Garçons, 1049, rue Valiquette, Ste. Adele.  450 745-1566.
